March 25, 2026

Clear Street has expanded its multi-asset platform by launching institutional spot cryptocurrency trading through Clear Street Digital. According to the company’s official release, this service allows access to Bitcoin, Ether, Solana, and a wide array of altcoins and stablecoins.

Summary

  • Clear Street expanded its multi-asset platform with the launch of Clear Street Digital.
  • It provides a single, consistent experience for the entire trading cycle – clearing, custody, and financing.
  • Clear Street uses BitGo as its exclusive custodian, integrating BitGo’s trading, custody, and wallet infrastructure via API.

About Clear Street

Clear Street is a fintech company transforming capital markets by replacing the 1970-era infrastructure with a modern, cloud-native platform. The company was founded in 2016 and offers clearing, custody, execution, and prime brokerage services to institutional investors, banks, and professional traders, supporting roughly $16 billion in customer balances.

The new feature is built on the same cloud-native infrastructure as Clear Street’s equities, options, fixed income, and futures businesses. It enables clients to manage digital assets alongside traditional exposures with higher transparency and operational consistency. The firm also stated that the new functions will include financing, derivatives, cross asset margining, and API connectivity. It also allows users to manage crypto exposures alongside traditional positions.

Ed Tilly, CEO of Clear Street, said, “Expanding into digital assets is the most recent illustration of Clear Street’s mission to provide sophisticated investors with access to every asset, in every market, through our unified, purpose-built platform. By adding digital assets onto the same infrastructure that powers equities, options, futures, and fixed income, we’re giving clients a single, consistent experience through the entire trading lifecycle from execution to clearing, custody, financing, leverage, and real-time risk monitoring across the portfolio.”

Clear Street’s Partnership With BitGo

Clear Street announced a partnership with BitGo, the digital infrastructure company, in November. BitGo serves as the Company’s exclusive custodian for digital assets. Soon, the firm will integrate its digital asset trading, custody, and wallets using API-driven infrastructure to offer a fully robust and multi-asset trading platform to Clear Street clients.

Extending Clear Street’s infrastructure rails to crypto, its clients would have a single operating environment for execution, capital usage, and risk oversight, reduce fragmentation, and improve capital efficiency.

Bob Rutherford, CEO of Clear Street Digital, said, “Institutions want visibility and control across their entire portfolio, not disconnected systems for each asset class. Clear Street’s technology and end-to-end capital markets platform allows us to bring digital assets into the same institutional framework clients already rely on — where trading, financing, and risk are fully transparent. That platform flexibility also gives us the ability to introduce new products quickly and responsibly as client needs evolve.”

Rutherford also announced the appointment of David Martin as Chief Revenue Officer for Clear Street Digital. Martin has more than 19 years of experience across investment management, fintech, and trading, including a decade in the cryptocurrency market.

David Martin previously held senior roles at AsiaNext and FalconX and co-founded Blockforce Capital.

This launch also coincides with reports that Clear Street is preparing for an initial Public Offering (IPO) in early 2026, targeting a valuation of around 12 billion.
